Why start an AXF centre

AXF seeks to inspire a wave of citizen-run centres dedicated to improving the lives of first-generation learners from underserved communities.

Empower first-generation learners

By establishing a centre that teaches English, Maths, life skills and values, you provide underprivileged children in your community with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty. Your contribution opens doors to better job opportunities and a brighter future.

Gain valuable skills and perspectives

Running an AXF Centre is a transformative experience. You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge, and gain a fresh perspective as you work with students, teachers, and various official bodies. This journey hones your people skills, challenges stereotypes, and offers deep fulfilment.

Make a tangible impact

Starting an AXF Centre allows you to witness the growth and success of your students firsthand, similar to the pride a parent feels. It’s about actively shaping the kind of community and world you wish to live in, fulfilling your civic responsibility, and contributing to a cause greater than yourself.

OUR MILESTONES AND GOALS

Since inception, we’ve grown in strength and impact.

1. Find the perfect location

Seek out areas where vibrant communities meet, such as upscale neighbourhoods near slums with children attending BMC or aided schools. This ensures you’re close to potential donors, volunteers, and supporters. Choose a welcoming and accessible spot, like a garden, promenade, or a school willing to share its space, where 50-60 children can gather in 7-8 small groups.

2. Join an inspiring orientation

Embark on your journey with AXF by attending an orientation session with our central management team. Here, you’ll dive into the heart of our mission, vision, goals, and the impactful work we do.

3. Build a dedicated team

Rally 12-15 passionate volunteers ready to make a difference by committing to teach English or Maths for 2-3 hours a week, for at least one year.

4. Lead as a core team

Empower 2-3 volunteers to step up as leaders, taking charge of managing and running the centre as an independent, thriving unit of Angel Xpress Foundation.

5. Reach out to students

Take action by visiting nearby BMC schools with your team, spreading the word about registration dates and inviting students to join. The AXF central team and school principals will support you every step of the way.

6. Set up batches and register students

Work together to establish batch timings that fit with volunteer schedules and school hours. Welcome the students, register them, and allocate them to their groups.

7. Master the classroom

Equip yourself with the skills to succeed by attending our dynamic training sessions. Learn classroom management and receive expert guidance in English and Maths. We’ll introduce you to our curriculum, teaching materials, and aids, ensuring you feel confident and prepared.

8. Launch your centre

With everything in place, it’s time to start teaching! AXF provides all the necessary materials and syllabus, along with ongoing support, continued training, syllabus upgrades, PR assistance, and organised events and activities for the children.

Angel stories

I truly think that I was living in a bubble till I started working at AXF. I was required to work at an NGO over the summer of my first year at university. I chose AXF as it suited my limited time frame…
