How Educational Institutions can support us

Raising social consciousness and fostering responsibility are fast becoming important in most schools and colleges catering to the affluent in Mumbai. We believe that promoting literacy is a worthy and fitting cause for them to adopt.

Schools

We encourage them to support us by helping us design various social service programs.

Students

We inspire students to contribute far beyond mandatory Community Action & Service (CAS) hours and embrace a lifelong commitment to service and social impact.

PTAs

We also facilitate PTAs’ involvement in the social service programs for schools.

Programs for social services at schools

After 40 hours of service in one academic year, student volunteers receive a certificate. Schools can engage with us in two primary ways:

Limited engagement or Weekly CAS/SUPW Activities:

This limited engagement plan is designed for schools that need to fulfil CAS hours. Students can contribute to AXF by volunteering at our centres on weekends or by participating in pre-planned activities that involve taking our children to school, under the supervision of teachers.

These schools have partnered with us for their CAS/SUPW activities:

Jamnabai Narsee School | Cathedral and John Connon School | Avabai Petit School | Bombay Scottish School | NMIMS | National College | St. Xavier’s

NSS/CAS Activities: Sustained High-Impact Program

AXF offers affluent schools the opportunity to establish a learning centre on their premises under their banner. In this program, the teaching staff can act as trainers and coordinators, while the parent body can support the initiative through volunteering and donations. The students from the school engage with underprivileged students through structured activities, thereby completing their CAS hours.

Schools currently supporting AXF

Billabong International School, Malad, started an AXF centre in August 2015. The school is managed by PTA members and supported by students who put in social service hours.

Ecole Mondiale World School started AXF working with the AXF Juhu centre in 2015. They have been associated with AXF since 2017, where student volunteers help with the spoken English program and are supervised by teachers.

Benefits of social services to schools

Schools that have participated in the program said that students feel proud and a sense of accomplishment.

Mutual learning

For more privileged students, teaching peers from different backgrounds fosters mutual learning and awareness. This experience helps build key skills like planning, teamwork, and collaboration with diverse groups.

Meaningful connections

Year after year, students develop a strong sense of ownership and meaningful connections with the children they help. The program also gives them valuable insight into India’s social challenges, inspiring them to make a difference early on.
